Terms & Conditions

1. Welcome to Rent Your Crush

Rent Your Crush is a marketplace that connects verified companions ("Crushes" / "Creators") with members ("Users") who want to book strictly public, platonic social hangouts. By accessing or using the platform, you agree to these Terms and our Community Guidelines.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. All members must complete identity verification before they can book, list, or message. We reserve the right to suspend or remove any account that provides false information or violates these terms.

3. Strictly Public, Strictly Companion

All bookings must take place in public venues such as cafés, restaurants, parks, museums, or other safe, visible locations. Private or residential meetings are prohibited. The platform is for companionship and social hangouts only; any solicitation, exchange, or arrangement of services beyond platonic public companionship is strictly forbidden and will result in immediate account termination and forfeiture of any pending funds.

4. Accounts & Verification

Users and Creators must provide accurate identity information and pass our verification checks. You may not share your account, impersonate another person, or create multiple accounts to circumvent suspension or verification. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

5. Payments, Commission & Escrow

Payments are processed through our payment provider. Hangout fees are charged in full at booking and held in escrow. Funds are released to the Creator when the meetup is confirmed by the requester entering the 6-digit code (or scanning the matching QR) shown on the Creator's booking screen, or automatically 48 hours after the scheduled meetup time if no confirmation is entered and no report is filed. Rent Your Crush charges a 15% platform commission on the booking subtotal (hourly rate × hours). The remaining 85% is transferred to the Creator's connected payout account. Platform service fees and processing fees are retained by Rent Your Crush and are not included in the payout basis. Subscription fees are charged on a recurring basis according to the tier you select and are non-refundable unless required by law.

6. Cancellations, No-Shows & Disputes

Cancellation by the requester is tiered by notice:

  • More than 2 hours before the scheduled meetup: full refund, no cancellation fee.
  • 2 hours or less before the scheduled meetup: a 50% cancellation fee is charged and paid to the Creator (subject to the standard 15% platform commission on that fee). The remaining 50% is refunded.

Cancellation by the Creator at any point before the meetup results in a full refund to the requester and no payout to the Creator. Repeated Creator cancellations may result in listing suspension.

No-shows. If the requester does not arrive and the meetup is not confirmed, the Creator may mark the booking as a no-show starting 30 minutes after the scheduled time. The requester then has a 24-hour window to dispute the no-show from within the app. If no dispute is filed in that window, the booking is treated as completed, charged in full, and the Creator receives the standard 85% payout. If the requester files a dispute, funds remain in escrow and are reviewed by our trust and safety team, whose decision is final for platform purposes.

Chargebacks. Filing a chargeback with your card issuer without first using the in-app dispute flow is a violation of these Terms and may result in account termination.

7. Meetup Confirmation Code

When a booking is paid, the platform generates a random 6-digit code and a matching QR code visible only to the Creator. The requester confirms the meetup happened by entering (or scanning) that code in person during the hangout. Sharing your code with anyone other than the requester in person, or entering a code without an actual meetup, is prohibited and will result in payout reversal and possible account termination.

8. Optional Safety Voice Recording

Rent Your Crush offers an optional in-app voice recorder that either party may use during a hangout for their own safety. Recordings are captured and stored locally on the recording user's device only (in the browser's local storage) and are never transmitted to Rent Your Crush unless the user manually attaches a specific clip to a safety report. Recordings automatically expire and are deleted from the device after 7 days.

Consent. Many jurisdictions — including California, Florida, Washington, most of the European Union, and others — legally require the consent of all parties before a conversation may be recorded. By using the recorder, you represent and warrant that you will verbally disclose the recording to the other party and obtain their consent before starting, and that you will comply with all applicable recording laws in your location. Rent Your Crush is not responsible for a user's failure to obtain lawful consent.

Permitted use. Recordings may be used only to (a) support a safety report submitted through the app, or (b) preserve evidence for law enforcement or a court. Publishing, sharing, monetizing, or using a recording to blackmail, defame, harass, or harm any person is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination and referral to law enforcement.

When you attach a clip to a report, you grant Rent Your Crush a limited license to store, review, and share the clip with our trust and safety team and, where necessary, with law enforcement.

9. Safety & Conduct

Harassment, threats, discrimination, solicitation, or any unsafe behavior is prohibited. We provide safety tools including reporting, blocking, and an emergency panic button. If you ever feel unsafe, use the panic button or contact local emergency services immediately. We reserve the right to remove any content or account that violates our safety standards.

10. Content & Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you upload, but you grant us a limited license to display it on the platform. You may not upload content that is illegal, infringing, explicit, or violates another person's rights. We may remove content or accounts at our discretion.

11. Limitation of Liability

Rent Your Crush is a booking and communication platform. We are not responsible for the conduct of Users or Creators during or outside of hangouts. You agree to use the platform at your own risk and release Rent Your Crush from claims arising from interactions between members, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12. Termination

Either you or we may terminate your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ends immediately, and any pending payouts may be forfeited or refunded according to these terms and applicable law.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through the platform. Your continued use of Rent Your Crush after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
